22 die in traffic mishaps
in Kahuta, Gilgit, Abbottabad
According to sources, a passenger van leaving from Pershing to Astoor
fell into a deep ravine due to over speed at the site of Lous. As a
result, 11 passengers died on the spot while eleven sustained severe
injuries.
Police have shifted the corpses and injured to district headquarter hospital. After first aid, all the patients have been shifted to Gilgit hospital.
The second accident occurred when a passenger coach with 53 passengers leaving from Kahuta to Rawalpindi met with tragic end at Kanait and fell into a deep ravine. Local people and rescue teams reached the site of occurrence and pulled the bodies and injured out and shifted them to Kahuta Headquarter Hospital.
Some of them sustained severe injuries and were managed to be shifted to Rawalpindi on priority basis.
Sources also said that some of the passengers have been suppressed under the bus from where rescue teams are trying to secure them with the support of local people who are giving their services on humanitarian basis.
The sources also revealed that Major Amir, resident of Rawalpindi had gone to Nathiagali along with his family for visit. When he was coming back from there, unluckily his car fell into ravine as he could not have a control over driving.
Resultantly, he and his son died on the spot while his wife and her son were seriously injured. The latter were shifted to hospital where they succumbed to injuries.
Rescue team has also shifted the corpses of Major Amir and his son to hospital.
