Constitutional breakdown in Balochistan, says CJ of Pakistan
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has stated there is a
constitutional breakdown in Balochistan pertaining to the proceedings of
Balochistan law and order case. A three-member bench headed by Chief
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the proceedings of the case on
Tuesday. “The court’s orders are not being obeyed and administration has
not been able to implement the judicial orders”, the Chief Justice
remarked. The bench expressed annoyance over the absence of the
provincial Chief Secretary. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stated that
judicial orders are not being implemented and they could summon
Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister, because the civil, police,
F.C, and army have not been able to resolve any single issue so far. The
provincial interior secretary presented the inquiry report of the
abduction and killings of coal miners and told SC that they have
arrested two accused involved in the case. Raja Irshad, who is counsel
of the agencies, told SC that the people wearing uniform of the F.C
accomplished the attack over the coast guards. Upon which, the Chief
Justice stated, “Tell straight forwardly that you have not done any
thing in the case, you have risen your hands, no force including the
Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence are working
properly, we are saying for the last 6 months but the result is still
insignificant”, added that, “Chief Secretary would have to write to SC
that they are failed to maintain law and order”. Later, the court wrote
in the order that constitution is not being implemented and summoned
answers back from the concerned authorities of the provincial and
federal governments. The Supreme Court then, adjourned the hearing of
the case till Wednesday.
